Policies

Students are expected to follow the Algonquin College policy on student conduct (SA 07 – Student Conduct), which states that “all students and prospective students will conduct themselves in a manner that respects the rights of all members of the College Community and College property.”

Under SA 07- Student Conduct, Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, “Assault, verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment and/or other conduct, which result in members of the College Community perceiving threat or danger.” Please see the full policy for a more complete list of actions that are considered Misconduct.

If a student needs to cancel an appointment, they must give as much notice as possible prior to the scheduled start time of their appointment. The student must cancel using either the cancellation link in their confirmation email or the Session Cancellation Form.

Should a student fail to give the required notice without valid documentation (doctor’s note etc.) the student will be credited with a “no show” in the system. If a student receives two “no shows” in a semester, that student will lose access to Coaching Lab services for one academic semester.

If a student does not attend a scheduled appointment, the student will be credited with a “no show” in the system. If a student receives two “no shows” in a semester, that student will lose access to Coaching Lab services for one academic semester.

Students can book appointments within the following limits:

  • Writing: Maximum of 1 session per day, 2 sessions per week.
  • ESL: Maximum of 1 session per day, 2 sessions per week.
  • Math, Computers, Chemistry, Anatomy/Biology/Physiology, Presentation Skills and English Conversation: no maximum.

This is to ensure that all students wishing to utilize the services provided within the Coaching Lab have an equal opportunity to access them.

Failure to follow the booking policies will result in the student losing access to Coaching Lab services for one academic semester.

If a student wishes to appeal a “no show” ruling, they must notify the SLC Coordinator, Evgeniya Minakova at minakoe@algonquincollege.com within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. At that time the student and the coordinator will arrange a time to meet and discuss the situation in detail.

If a student is found to be intentionally circumventing any of the Coaching Lab’s policies, that student will lose access to Coaching Lab services for one academic semester or longer, depending on the severity of the situation.
