by Meagan M. on 2023-09-05T12:02:20-04:00 in Faculty | 0 Comments

Generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT are rapidly evolving. If faculty permit the use of Generative AI tools by students within their course work, it is expected that advice on citation styles may change as more is learned about the use of generative AI in higher education. The library has curated a new guide to help support students on their academic journey in all things AI.

The AI: Generative Artificial Intelligence Guide covers:

  • The basics of what AI is

  • The pros and cons of this rapidly evolving technology

  • How to evaluate the quality of AI content

  • Generative AI and Academic Misconduct

  • Citing AI content by citation style (APA, MLA, IEEE, Chicago)

  • Additional web resources

To try and prevent academic misconduct, we recommend that instructors address the topic of using generative AI tools with their students. Learning & Teaching Services have prepared statements for faculty to use on Weekly Schedules for the fall 2023 semester, please click here to view their sample statements.
