What is LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning is a platform of on-demand instructional videos that can help you gain new skills and advance your career.


  • Useful instructional content: LinkedIn Learning provides access to all of the same great instructional videos from that can help you develop professionally.
  • User-friendly course library: The course library is divided by subject, software, and learning path, which makes it easy to find courses that interest you.
  • Personalized course recommendations: You will now be able to connect your LinkedIn Learning account to your personal LinkedIn account, and get more personalized course recommendations based on your job and industry.
  • Ability to display achievements: Connecting your Learning account with your personal LinkedIn account allows you to display the courses that you have completed.
  • Ability save courses for later: You can plan your learning by saving individual courses or adding courses to collections on specific topics.

Links that redirect from will stop working when is fully retired. If you are linking to, you should change these links to their LinkedIn Learning equivalent within 3 months after the upgrade.


No. All of the playlists and history from your account will be migrated to LinkedIn Learning when you activate your account; however, within 3 months after the update (approx. Nov 6th, 2019), you will need to update any links to content you have in your courses.

  • Existing users will receive an activation email once the upgrade has taken place.
  • Click the activation link in the email to get started. You can also log in to and be redirected to LinkedIn Learning.
  • Follow the instructions for "Logging in for the first time" for a more detailed explanation for new users and existing users.

You are not required to connect the two accounts. If you do connect them, you will received more personalized course recommendations based on your job and industry.

You can activate LinkedIn Learning by creating a separate Learning account, or by connecting with a personal LinkedIn profile. Connecting your account is helpful in the following ways:

  • You get personalized course recommendations. LinkedIn Learning suggests courses you might like based on the job and industry you have listed in your LinkedIn profile.
  • You can display achievements: When you complete a course in LinkedIn Learning, you can add your certificate of completion on your LinkedIn profile, along with the skills associated with the course.
  • You have access through LinkedIn. When you’re logged in to LinkedIn, you can open LinkedIn Learning from the LinkedIn menu.

You only have access to LinkedIn Learning through Algonquin College while you are a student, staff, or faculty member at the College.  If you want to continue using LinkedIn Learning after you leave, you can purchase your own individual license.

If you connect your LinkedIn Learning account with your LinkedIn profile, you will retain your course history even if you no longer have a license.

The activation link in your email will expire after 30 days; you can request a new activation link.

You must activate your LinkedIn Learning account within one year of the upgrade in order to have your history carried over.
