Viewing and Downloading eBooks

Page 1+ and EBSCO Ebooks

A maximum of 10 eBooks may be checked out at one time. After 14 days the items will be automatically returned. A limited number of pages (as specified on the eBook brief record) can be printed or saved as a PDF.

Note: Internet Explorer is not compatible with EBSCO eBooks; we recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

To download an eBook from Page 1+ or EBSCO eBooks:

  1. Log in to your EBSCOhost account. If you do not yet have an account, you can create a new EBSCOhost account or you can sign in with your Google account.

Note: If you create an EBSCOhost account, you must create a strong, secure password for your account to be accepted. Mix numbers, capital and lowercase letters and avoid obvious word choices.

  1. Locate the eBook you want to download and click Download from the result.
  2. Ensure that “I have Adobe Digital Editions or equivalent installed” is checked. If you don’t already have it, you can download Digital Editions for free.
  3. Click Download and save the eBook file.
  4. Once it has been downloaded, double click on the eBook file. This should open your eBook in Adobe Digital Editions.

Note: If this is your first time using Digital Editions, log in with your Adobe ID and click Authorize. If you do not have an Adobe ID, you can create one now.

  1. If you have Digital Editions and it does not automatically open, right-click on the file, select Open with, and select Digital Editions from the list of apps.
  2. If you cannot find Digital Edition from the app options, follow the instructions below to add the eBook to your Digital Editions Library.

The ebook will stay in your Digital Editions Library for the duration of your borrowing period.

Alternative method to add a downloaded eBook to Adobe Digital Editions:

  1. Open Digital Editions from your Start menu.
  2. Click File > Add to Library.
  3. Open the location of eBook file (this will likely be your Downloads folder).
  4. If your eBook does not appear in this folder, change the type of file displayed to “Adobe Content Server Message.”

  5. Select the eBook and click Open. This will add the eBook to your Library.
